Switzerland: Betty Bossi becomes 100% subsidiary of Coop

The Swiss company Betty Bossi and Coop have been working together for more than ten years. This successful partnership was strengthened on the 21st of December 2012 because on this day, Coop acquired 50% of Betty Bossi AG shares from Ringier. Seeing that Coop was already a shareholder for the remaining 50%, this means that Betty Bossi has now become a 100% subsidiary from the retailer Coop.

Coop took over the first 50 percent of shares for Betty Bossi Verlag AG from Ringier in 2011 which created a joint venture between the two companies. This was the start of a strong and successful partnership. In 2002 Coop, together with Betty Bossi, launched a new convenience brand called 'Idee Betty Bossi'. The initial assortment consisted of 200 products which quickly grew into around 500 and the new brand became the leader of the Swiss fresh convenience market. With more than 600 Betty Bossi products, Coop had a turnover of approximately 500 million Swiss Francs in 2012.
