Construction has begun on a major $50 million Uzbek-Russian joint venture agro-logistics project in the Kuva District. The initiative was officially launched via videoconference from Tashkent, with both the Fergana region and the Omsk governors participating. Local investors, officials, and community representatives attended the ceremony on-site.
The project, led by LLC Energy-land, will be built on a 15-hectare site and includes a fruit and vegetable processing plant with an annual capacity of 20,000 tons, cold storage facilities totaling 30,000 tons, a hotel, and supporting infrastructure. Around 500 jobs are expected to be created, with agricultural exports targeted at up to $100 million annually.
Governor Bozorov highlighted the strategic importance of the center, calling it a key hub for the Fergana Valley and emphasizing its role in supplying locally grown fruits and vegetables directly to Russian and international markets.
Governor Khotsenko stressed the growing demand for Uzbek fruits, vegetables, and textiles in Russia, noting that the new facility will help meet this demand efficiently. The ceremony concluded with the symbolic laying of the first stone, marking the start of construction on the complex.
