P.E.I. growers question powers of proposed blueberry board

Two large wild blueberry growers in eastern Prince Edward Island are raising concerns about a proposal to establish a provincial blueberry marketing board. They warn that the plebiscite now underway could reduce growers' control over land use, contracts, and operational decision-making.

Pam MacDonald, who farms 500 acres (about 202 hectares) of blueberries with her husband John on Souris Line Road, said there are "serious, unanswered concerns" about the mandatory structure and the authorities described in the draft regulations shared with growers.
