South Korea ships 8 tons of Geochang Shine Muscat to Taiwan

Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province reported that a shipment ceremony was held on the 26th for Shine Muscat grapes exported to Taiwan. The event took place at the grape sorting facility of the Northwestern Gyeongnam Regional Produce Distribution Center (APC) and was attended by County Governor Koo Inmo, representatives of fruit tree cooperatives, export growers, and about 30 participants.

The shipment consists of 8 tons of Shine Muscat grapes with a Brix level of 16 or higher. The fruit will be supplied to retail stores and supermarkets in Taiwan. The county stated that about five additional shipments are planned at 10 to 15-day intervals, with total exports expected to reach 40 tons this year.

Geochang Shine Muscat grapes are noted domestically and in Taiwan for high sugar levels, uniform quality, and structured production systems. Despite a challenging market environment this year due to lower domestic Shine Muscat prices and reduced consumption, growers maintained export volumes. Export companies used quality control and overseas marketing efforts to develop external markets.

Governor Koo Inmo said, "Geochang Shine Muscat grapes are gaining a strong reputation overseas thanks to excellent cultivation techniques and thorough quality control," and expressed appreciation to growers and exporters for maintaining standards. He added, "Geochang County will strengthen administrative support to increase farm income, including expanding overseas sales channels and supporting export logistics."

Geochang County plans to strengthen its export production base by designating a grape export quarantine complex for 2026. Based on this, the county intends to pursue new export markets, including the United States.
