A new memorandum of understanding has been signed to support the development of a seed-to-market value chain for potatoes in India. The agreement was formalised between Banas Dairy and Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL) on November 10, 2025, in New Delhi, in the presence of the Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperation and senior officials.
The initiative is part of the Ministry's broader program to encourage cooperation between cooperatives. According to the Ministry, the objective is to expand capacity for producing certified, disease-free seed potatoes and to strengthen technical processes across the potato supply chain.

The plan includes the promotion of scientific cultivation practices, contract farming structures, and market linkages to support growers. Under the MoU, BBSSL will use the tissue culture and aeroponic facilities operated by Banas Dairy. In return, Banas Dairy will provide technical and market-related support within the framework of the agreement.
The Ministry noted that the program is intended to reduce input losses and improve efficiency across potato production systems. Representatives from both organisations referenced ongoing efforts to increase domestic availability of seed potatoes and support structured production within cooperative networks.
