The Philippine Statistics Authority reports increases in seasonally adjusted tomato and onion production during the third quarter. Tomato output for the period reached 57,320 metric tons, up 43.9 per cent from the previous quarter. According to PSA records, this is the largest quarter-to-quarter increase in seasonally adjusted tomato production in at least nine years.
Seasonally adjusted onion production also rose, increasing 20.6 per cent from the previous quarter to 104,810 metric tons. The PSA noted that this is the largest rise in seasonally adjusted onion output since the fourth quarter of 2024.
Seasonally adjusted production removes variables such as harvest cycles, trader demand, and lean production months. The adjustments provide a clearer view of underlying output trends for comparison across quarters.
