Sam Vasala - Sai World:

“While there’s still some market uncertainty, we’re staying flexible and optimistic"

"The trees are loaded with fruit, and while the early varieties may have slightly smaller sizing, we're increasing thinning efforts to ensure excellent size and quality for the later harvest," says Sam Vasala of Sai World. "Our main harvest is just around the corner, we've started with a small volume for the domestic market, and we expect export volumes to ramp up in the next 10 to 14 days."

Sai World and Nature's Connection will be exporting premium Canadian cherries to the US, Asia, and Europe, in addition to meeting strong demand in the local market.

"Although prices for Washington cherries are currently under pressure due to oversupply, we remain confident about the season ahead. We're seeing solid interest from buyers and expect conditions to improve as we move into August," Vasala says. "We're also focused on meeting all market requirements, particularly ensuring MRL (maximum residue limit) compliance for Europe."

"While there's still some market uncertainty, we're staying flexible and optimistic. Our focus is on delivering top-quality cherries across all destinations, whether it's Vietnam, Thailand, China, Japan, or Europe. High-quality fruit always finds a home, and we're proud to be offering some of the best this season."
