California leads U.S. avocado production with early season start

California is the largest producer of avocados in the U.S., and they have become an iconic part of California's agricultural landscape. In fact, the world-famous Hass avocado tree originated right here in Southern California. Rudolph Hass propagated the first one in the late 1920s, and the rest is history.

California boasts more than 48,000 acres of avocado trees, producing some of the highest-quality avocados in the world. At Mission, we work with hundreds of growers along the Pacific Coast to cultivate high-quality, high-producing trees that keep the avocado love going strong.
