A sneak peek at the 2024 California avocado crop ahead

The California Avocado Commission team is ready for the second annual International Fresh Produce Association’s Global Produce & Floral Show that will be held in Anaheim, California. The show’s location is conveniently within driving distance of California avocado groves in Southern and Central California and Commission representatives will be available throughout the event and in booth #2839 on the expo days, October 20 and 21.

“2023 marks the 45th anniversary of the California Avocado Commission, but this will be my first GP&FS show,” said Commission vice president of marketing, Terry Splane. “I look forward to meeting with customers, the media, California avocado packers and growers, as well as taking inspiration from all the event offers.”

Expectations are that peak availability of California avocados will continue to be spring through summer in 2024.

Since the show timing is after the 2023 California avocados season, CAC will preview plans for the 2024 season. It is too early to accurately predict next year’s crop size and timing, but expectations are that peak availability of California avocados will continue to be spring through summer.

“Frankly, because the show timing is at the tail end or just after the California avocado season and too early for in-depth planning for the next season, our customer engagements at the show may be more light-hearted than some other business meetings,” said Splane. “Our team provides business reviews at the show if requested, and we share consumer insights and our best information for the new crop. More than anything, we’re just happy to greet our customers and colleagues in person.”
