The Cherry Express starts its service in TPS Valparaiso

The 2022-2023 maritime cherry export season has already begun in the South Pacific Valparaiso Terminal (TPS) with the departure of the first ship loaded with cherry containers destined for the port of Hong Kong.

This year's 'Cherry Express' service includes 11 ships on a weekly basis, connecting both ports directly in only 22 days. Shipments are expected to start peaking at the beginning of December considering the large concentration of existing cargo during these six weeks.

Chilean cherries are highly sought after in the Asian market due to the Chinese New Year celebrations, which will take place on Sunday, January 22. This is a challenging season for all the actors in Valparaiso's port logistics system, which is why they have prepared together to meet this greater demand for this product in a shorter time with great efficiency.

"Cherries have been positioned as one of Chile's premium fruit export products, so we feel a great responsibility to be part of the logistics chain adding value so that they reach their destination as scheduled. Operational excellence is key to having a successful season, so we are very grateful to the customers who have chosen us this season and with whom we have worked together to achieve an effective and efficient logistics chain," stated Raul Guzman, TPS sales assistant manager.
