As a subsidiary company of Glorytimes and XingYeYuan, Fola Supply China Pte Ltd trades fruit globally, mainly on Asian markets which are considered to be the regions with biggest business potential over recent years. Florence Chan, director of Fola Supply China Pte Ltd, shared some insights on the market with Freshplaza.

Fola Supply China Pte Ltd is based in Singapore, to fulfil the demands of all groups, the company sources premium fruits from different countries. As Florence stated, “Diversity in the supplies is the key to our success. We import fruits from China and sell them to Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Meanwhile, we export popular fruits to China to accommodate the fast growing demand there, such as dragon fruit from Vietnam, frozen Musang King durian from Malaysia and mangosteens from Indonesia.”

In last decade, with the income distribution gap narrowing and the with emergence of a middle income group, the consumption for the imported fruits in general is getting stronger. To serve the larger group, Fola exports high spec to elite groups, as well as 2nd and standard grade. The fruit varieties that the company supplies depend on multiple factors, such as the import protocol, affordability etc.
Looking back on the last 3 years, Covid related measures have brought different challenges to the international fruit trade, such as logistics problems. Especially the shortage of containers and the soaring freight rates have hindered the international trade in different ways. Under such circumstances, Florence mentioned that Fola will mitigate the relevant risk and restructure the business portfolio accordingly.
