“We have hopes to extend the Bursa black fig season until November”

In Turkey, fig exporters are getting ready for the fresh Bursa back fig season. Although the product isn’t completely ripe for export yet, it shouldn’t take more then two weeks to get the exports going with the quality that is aimed for.

According to Selcuk Oruc, of Turkish fig exporter Bursa Tarim, the upcoming fig season in Turkey could be extended until November: “The Bursa black fig season is about to start in Turkey, but the produce of good quality will really get going in the first week of August. The season should last until September, but we have hopes to extend the season to November. Currently the product is not sufficiently ripened and of the quality we expect, so we will not be able to start with the export of figs until August hits us.”

“Our Bursa black figs are organically grown. Although this is the season for fresh Bursa black figs, we’ll continue to have dried figs on offer for the rest of the year. We’re looking forward to tackling the season head on!” Oruc concludes.
