Southern Australian nectarines and peaches now available as season launches

The first boxes of South Australian grown nectarines and peaches have arrived on the South Australian Produce Market floor marking the start of the stone fruit season in SA.

The season has kicked off with excellent tasting white nectarines and peaches that are sweet and tasty with a great season expected.

South Australian Produce Market CEO, Angelo Demasi, said “It is always great to see a new variety of locally grown fruit coming into the market as it signifies a change of season and a new line of local produce for consumers to enjoy.”

Summer fruits SA Chair, Jason Size, said “South Australian grown stone fruits are now available with supplies increasing over the next few weeks just in time for the warmer weather. The early season first picks of white peaches and nectarines are tasting fantastic and full of flavour.”

Penny Reidy, Pick a Local, Pick SA! Campaign Manager, said, “A great way for the community to support our SA stone fruit growers is through the simple act of purchasing SA grown nectarines, peaches and apricots when they can this season.”

“We’re excited about the taste and flavour of the SA new season available. Our growers have had a tough year with Covid, fruit fly and hailstorms – we would love the community to support our growers and pick up some stone fruits through their Pick a Loca,l Pick SA! greengrocer.”
