According to a report by Fresh Fruit, Peru exported a gross volume of 8,655 tons of strawberry between January and October of this year, i.e. 13% less than in the same period of 2019. "This is one of the few agricultural products that are exported mainly frozen," the agency emphasized.
The United States was the main destination for Peruvian strawberries, with a 53% share. It was followed by Canada, with 27%, and Japan, with 6%. "With the exception of Canada, where the Peruvian supply remained stable, shipments to the US and Japan fell by more than 10%," they added.
The main exporting companies in the period were Mebol SAC with a 37% share and Del ande Alimentos SAC with 19%. The consignees included MB Global Foods Llc., With 12%, and Rader Farms Inc., with 7%.
