Green Has Iberia

How to advance the blackberry and raspberry harvest and improve the uniformity of their production

Green Has Iberia's SIBERIO + SIBERIOn products, which were specifically meant for cherry, table grape, and kiwi crops can now also be used for blackberry and raspberry crops. The joint use of both products is an effective solution to facilitate bud sprouting in plantations that have not accumulated enough cold hours.

For years, the company has carried out trials and treatments on blackberry and raspberry crops in Huelva which have proven that SIBERIO, with its activator SIBERIOn, advances bud sprouting, improves uniformity, groups production, and yields fruits earlier, allowing producers to obtain a better market price.

Left: untreated plant. Right: plant treated with SIBERIO.

The trials, and numerous market tests, have been carried out on the Nachez blackberry and the Enrosadira, Kwanza, and Adelita raspberry varieties.

The tests allowed the company to determine the most effective dose and the most suitable conditions for application on plant material, showing excellent results compared to other competitive references.

It is very important that the material is at rest, that it has been recently pruned, and that the dormant buds have not 'moved', which would indicate early sprouting.

Dosage and recommendations:

In all the trials, a 5 to 21 days advance in budding, flowering, and fruiting, has been achieved, depending on the species and variety.

Production is concentrated, thanks to the fact that the crop develops more homogeneously. The production yields fruits at earlier dates, which are more interesting because the fruit achieves a higher price, increasing the profitability of the crop.

It is essential to apply the SIBERIO + SIBERIOn treatment when the plant has accumulated enough cold hours and the wood is lignified (it does not work in summer or in immature material).

The treatment is more effective when producers conduct proper pruning management before applying it. Pruning and treatment should be scheduled, as they must be consecutive.

If it is applied at the optimal time, when the buds are closed, it won't leave any burn marks on the plants. Buds sprout properly and normal plant development occurs. In addition, it does not leave any residues.
