Vincenzo Salento on the current mushroom market

“Our goal is to double our output by Q4 of 2020”

Nature Green (NG) is expanding its organic exotic mushroom production, as demand for organic mushrooms is increasing all over Europe. According to one exporter, discussions for next season have already started. And it will be the first season they have the certifications for being 100 per cent organic.

To keep up with the demand for organic mushrooms across Europe, Ukrainian mushroom exporter Nature Green has started expanding. The construction of the second incubation chamber is progressing well, and very soon it will be ready for use. In parallel with this, marketing and sales teams together with technologist are working on expanding their current range, says Vincenzo Salento, EU sales manager for Nature Green. “Our clients are already asking to discuss and plan volumes for the next season and we are working closely with them to develop new offers.”

“We are still working on this because we want to be as close as possible to market trends, but, running ahead, I can say that together with our current high class Shiitake, Nature Green will be able to offer mushrooms such as Shimeji, Lions Mane/Pom-Pom and Enokitake. And all of these mushrooms will be cultivated in a 100% organic way,” says Christina Pita, EU marketing manager for Nature Green. “Adding other exotic strains to our product will allow us to develop the Nature Green brand globally.”

Nature Green’s production facility currently outputs around 12 to 14 tons of mushrooms monthly. According to Salento, the goal is to nearly double the output by the end of this year: “By Q4 of 2020, we will be harvesting over 24 tons every month, of the highest quality organic mushrooms. By this time our facility will be providing more than 75 local based jobs and a sustainable career path for our employees to develop their skills. Through the dedication of our employees, has become well recognized among the EU markets of exotic mushrooms. And our target is to keep increasing our brand recognition and value by being a reliable business partner.”
