Two potato processors rank in the top 10 of Brand Finance’s 2019 list of most valuable food brand’s in the world. Frito-Lay, owned by PepsiCo, ranked eighth on the list with a brand value of $4.699 billion, up 28.5% from 2018.
Lay’s was followed by McCain Foods, which ranked ninth at $4.675 billion, up 25.1%. McCain was cited as a brand “to watch” in the report.
McCain-Foods is a global leader in the frozen food market, the brand has expanded several of its flagship plants in order to meet growing demand. McCain has also widened it global footprint, acquiring a 49% stake in Brazil’s Forno de Minas,” Brand Finance stated.
Brand Finance’s value methodology uses a variety of factors and calculations in determining a company’s brand value, including marketing investment metrics, past performance, revenue forecasts, royalty rates and stakeholder equity.
