Fields already flooded and waterlogged

Met office forecast more rain for Lincolnshire

Heavy rain caused serious flooding in Lincolnshire after two months worth of rain fell in two days. The worst affected ares in Wainsfleet where around 600 people have been evacuated from their homes.

One vegetable producer close by said they have been lucky and only 10% of the potato crop and 5% of the vegetable crop has been affected, although farmers less that 5 kms away have been devastated with most of the vegetables completely under water.

Our machines may be getting stuck in the mud but our hardy #harvesting teams are battling through the water-logged fields, ensuring the UK's supermarket shelves are stocked full of our lovely #Lincolnshire #Brassicas ! Twitter post from TH Clements

Richard Ince from TH Clements, a large brassica grower in nearby Boston, said that it was heavy going in the fields. "Conditions are difficult at the moment, it is challenging getting heavy machinery in out of fields as it its very wet. The water is water is receding, but more rain forecast tonight. There are some pools of water lying in some areas which will means damage to crops."

The UK government has issued more flood warnings for the area, with up to 20mm of rain expected in the coming days.
