Between January and February of this year, Peru exported 38,881,375 kilos of fresh onion for an FOB value of US $ 12,809,115. These figures are relatively similar to the 37,906,665 kilos worth US $13,457,332 that the country exported in the same period of 2018.
According to the Agrodata Peru website, the main destination of these Peruvian shipments in the first two months of 2019 was the United States, with US $7,452,000. It was followed by Spain with US $3,157,000, Colombia with US $1,582,000, and Chile with US $206,000.
The leading exporters of fresh onions were Mentor Service Trade SAC with sales of US $1,699,906, Novoliz SA with US $1,162,772, Miranda Internacional SAC with US $1,154,867, Agrilor SAC with US $811,500, Empresas Electroagrícolas SAC with US $680,200, Agriculture Pampa Baja SAC with US $569,646, Shuman Produce Peru SAC with US $488,007, Bland Farms Peru SAC with US $411,137, Key Peru SA with US $431,221 and several other companies that together amounted to US $5,399,859.
