Honduras to export more than 100 tons of citrus to Canada

Honduras is exporting nearly 35 metric tons of citrus that will generate more than 11 million dollars, equivalent to 265 million lempiras in foreign currency.

At a national level, there are around 20,000 hectares of citrus cultivated, 18,000 of which are oranges, and 1,200 are lemons and mandarins.

Rene Arturo BendaƱa, an entrepreneur, said that they exported Persian Limes to the Spanish market and that they expected to export to Canada one to three containers per month, equivalent to 100 tons.

The oranges are exported to Central American countries, such as Mexico, the Islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe, and the country also plans to make shipments to the euro market.
