Good citrus fruit supply in Poland

Polish consumers have access to lemons from Turkey, Greece and Spain, mandarins from the south of Europe and from Morocco and grapefruit from Florida (the most expensive, but supposedly the tastiest), as well as from Turkey, Israel and Spain.

There is certainly no shortage of citrus fruits. Comparing the current prices with those recorded a year ago, grapefruits have recorded the biggest increase, and especially those from Florida due to unfavourable weather conditions and lower yields. Mandarin prices are similar to those reached a year ago, and oranges are 6% cheaper.

In the wholesale market of Bronisze, lemons cost between 4.5 and 6.5 zloty per kilo (between 1.07 and 1.54 Euro), depending on the country of origin, quality, class and size of the lot purchased. These wholesale prices are about 10% higher than in December 2016. Mandarin prices oscillate between 2.8 and 7 zloty per kilo (between 0.66 and 1.66 Euro). Oranges are slightly cheaper than a year ago and the average wholesale price stands at about 5 zloty per kilo (in 10 kg packages), which is about 1.19 Euro per kilo).
