A company from Harlingen, Texas, will ship more than 600,000 boxes of Rio Grande Valley fruit and nuts during December, Valley Central reports. Pittman and Davis will be shipping local grapefruit, other fruit and nuts to customers nationwide.
On any given day in December, 18,000 boxes will be shipped to major U.S. cities. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Texas is projected to export more boxes of grapefruit than Florida or California in 2017.
