Russia considers increasing tomato quotas from Turkey

Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich is considering increasing the Turkish quotas for tomatoes delivered to the Russian Federation.

From 1 November the Russian Federation has allowed limited shipments of tomatoes from Turkey to the amount of 50,000 tons.

Blackseagrain.net learned that the first batch of 19.4 tonnes arrived mid-November. Russia banned the import of fruit and vegetables from Turkey as from 1 January 2016, after relations between the two countries deteriorated in the fall of 2015. These restrictions are gradually being removed, but the ban on tomatoes remained.
