Exports to the United States

Proexport expects tariffs for peppers and artichokes to be eliminated

On the second day of Fruit Attraction, the president of Proexport, Juan Marin Bravo, spoke about the possibility that the US will eliminate tariffs for peppers. "However, a secretary of state said the issue was at a natural standstill."

"We continue working to reduce tariffs on artichoke and we might be very close to the disappearance of tariffs for pepper starting January," Marin said.

In addition, according to a press release from the company, the president of Proexport believes that they can open the Asian market for other products, in addition to the stone fruit.

"We have Asian visitors today. It is a slow country, but we hope that in a short time, through agreements with producers, we can continue opening new export routes to other products such as vegetables.

Marin also highlighted that "Spain's fruit and vegetable production is serious, we provide a service, we continue to have serious water problems but we are able to guarantee a supply to our customers and all distribution chains stop by our stand."

"The cost of production has risen this year because we have to resort to more expensive water, but we'll comply with our customers' programs, it is our responsibility as suppliers," he added.
