Cucumber prices in Poland rose by 38% over the weekend

Cucumber prices have been growing in Poland and have now jumped by 33-38%, according to Fruit-Inform.

In particular, gherkin prices are now varying between 0.42-0.58 euro/kg, and cucumbers are offered at 0.40-0.51 euro/kg.

The Polish market participants connect such a rapid rise in prices with several factors. In the first instance, the price growth is backed by a decrease in the supply due to an inter-season period in Poland. Meanwhile, the demand for cucumbers is rather high now both in the domestic market and externally.

As a result, current prices are on average 20% higher year-on-year, and many market participants expect the positive trend to remain in effect at least until the end of the following week.
