This year on August 3, the East Lake Chunyue community from Jiangsu Province, held a traditional Chinese activity in the Suzhou Industrial Park. The meeting was called "Chinese and foreign friends together: autumn watermelon eating competition."
Local citizens and several foreign guests from Australia, the USA and the UK, competed in eating watermelons. According to the custom, "eating watermelons in blazing-hot summer means welcoming mild autumn weather."
