Bulgaria: Over 100 small producers to supply large retailer directly

Over 100 small local producers will be delivering fruits, vegetables and meat directly to the stands of a large retail chain in Bulgaria. The initiative is part of the "Grown with Care in Bulgaria" project, which was officially launched by the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Rumen Porozhanov, who stated that - "Such initiatives have a future; they are imposed by the market itself."

Sources from the retail chain confirmed that the number of producers with whom contracts have been signed is expected to double by the end of the year. Currently, the minimum amount of fruit and vegetables that local growers will deliver directly to stores is expected to amount to over 12,000 tonnes per year.
