The Chinese apple varieties par excellence, the Red Fuji and Red Star, are so well known and so demanded in certain countries, such as India, that even small producers are beginning to consider the option of entering the international market and the world of exports. This is what happened to Asoura Lu. "On average, we produce about 1,500 tonnes of apples a year and we believe that this volume could easily go outside of China, as we are a strong market," explains Lu.

At the moment, Lu is only able to offer data on the domestic market, since its international project has not yet been launched; however, he reports that "a kilo of apples in China costs around 8 RMB." To this we must add that the season kicks off each year in October, and the country has a sufficient volume to cover its own needs, as well as to supply different areas in other parts of the world.
