Fruit and veg lift Tunisian food exports by 10.9%

Exports of food products in Tunisia went up by 10.9% at the end of May 2017, with revenues estimated at 1,320.6 MD compared to 2016. This rise is due to the increase in date earnings by 18% to 324.4 MD (following 28% price increases and market diversification) in addition to an increase in exports of vegetable and fruit preparations by 30% and fresh vegetables by 34%.

As regards the export of summer fruits, the Department of Agriculture reported sales, estimated to date at 19 MD, up 20%, in comparison with 2016. Exports include watermelon (French and Italian markets), apricot (Libya, the Arabian Gulf, France and Italy) among others.
