Agro-food product supply

Spain: Extremadura and China strengthen trade ties

Importers from the Chinese city of Yiwu, one of the most international in the wholesale market, have met in Merida with managers from companies from Extremadura to learn about the region's agro-food products and seek business opportunities.

The general director of the public company Avante, Miguel Bernal, thanked the entrepreneurs from Extremadura, the Chinese importers and the General Association of Quingtitanes for their work to boost the economy, create jobs and promote commercial and cultural exchange in and outside the region of Extremadura.

Also present was the president of the Foundation for the exchange between Yiwu and Spain, Mao Wenjin. He highlighted the agricultural potential of Extremadura and its commitment to specialization in China in two fundamental areas; one in which Extremadura's agro-food companies will play a decisive role, and another, the "Madrid-Yiwu" train, which will facilitate the entry of Spanish products into the Chinese market.

Memorandum of Understanding
On Monday, a Memorandum of Understanding between Yiwu and Extremadura Avante was signed with the goal of achieving optimal participation with the main producers from Extremadura, promoting coordination, promotion, exchange, collaboration and cooperation between regions.

Mao Wenjin has praised the commercial and cultural exchange and influence of the Chinese community in Spain, as well as collaboration as a fundamental basis for its policy of action.
