Turkey plans to increase agricultural exports to Russia
Producers and exporters of agricultural products in Turkey intend to significantly increase the supply of fruits to Russia, as stated by the head of the Union of Fruit and Vegetable Exporters of the Mediterranean Region of Turkey, Ali Kawak.
Moscow and Ankara have only just signed a joint statement on the mutual lifting of trade restrictions. The document was signed by Russian and Turkish Vice-Premiers Arkady Dvorkovich and Mehmet Shimshek within the framework of the summit of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.
"The removal of restrictions will primarily affect the export of grapes, apples, pears and strawberries," Kavak reported to the Turkish news agency Anadolu.
According to him, "Russia is a priority market for these types of agricultural products." Kawak also said that Turkish fresh fruit and vegetable exports, most of which are citrus fruits, are worth two billion dollars.
