Increased production of Landes asparagus

The asparagus of the sands from the Landes, produced under the PGI’s sign (Protected Geographical Indication) arrived earlier in the markets this year. The mild temperatures at the beginning of March and the Oceanic climate in the Landes increased the production of asparagus.

Asparagus is growing not only in Landes, but in the rest of Europe there are large volumes available. This has resulted in low prices at the start of the season. “The harvesting will last until about mid-May, maybe a little longer. We already have all three colours available white, green and purple”, Emmanuel Descloux from Priméale says.

In order to support these volumes, Primeale offers different packages: in 500g, 750g and 1kg fresh packets, in bulk packages of 2kg and 5kg and for the first time in ready-to-sell cardboard of 5kg. “This new packaging allows the brand to clearly communicate the freshness of this vegetable and to recruit new consumers. This packaging facilitates loose purchasing and underlines the Priméale range.”
