Russia lifts ban on Sudanese imports through Belarus

As of 20 March, Russia has re-allowed the importation of Sudanese vegetables and fruits through the territory of Belarus.

"On 20 March 2017, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance is authorising the importation into Russia of goods coming from the Republic of Sudan through the territory of Belarus," reported the press office of the Rosselkhoznadzor last week.

The list of re-admitted products includes onions, green beans, sweet peppers, chili peppers, mangoes, bananas, melons, watermelons, lemons, grapefruit, figs, basil and sesame.

The Russian agency pointed out that this decision was taken after talks with the Health Inspection Department of the Ministry of Agriculture in Sudan, with the Sudanese side confirming the validity of the information on the production and export volumes from Sudan to the European Union.
