Bulgaria: Almost 800,000 Euros allocated for agricultural insurance
In 2017, the budget allocated for the State Fund scheme for the co-financing of agricultural insurance premiums will amount to 1.5 million Lev (about 766,776 Euro), as decided in a meeting of the Governing Council of the State Fund "Agriculture" (SFA), reports Investor.bg.
The purpose of this aid is to encourage agricultural producers and small and medium firms growing fruits, vegetables, oil-bearing crops and tobacco to voluntarily insure their agricultural production against natural disasters and other adverse weather events.
The funds are provided as a payment of part of the insurance premiums to producers with insurance products, as specified by the SFA. The maximum amount of support any single producer can get is 65% of the premium.
Applications will be accepted from 20 March 2017 until the funds are depleted, but should not be submitted later than 31 August 2017. The deadline for the signing of contracts and the disbursement of funds has been set at 15 December 2017.
