FEPEX has organised the joint participation of a group of fruit and vegetable companies at the Mac Fruit Attraction fair, to be held from 22 to 24 April in Cairo. The goal is to promote sales in Egypt and other countries within its area of influence, such as Saudi Arabia.
Many of Mac Fruit Attraction's visitors come from Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, countries in which the export of Spanish fruit and vegetables has grown significantly.
The United Arab Emirates has become the second most important non-European destination for the export of fresh fruit and vegetables, with 67.1 million Euro in 2016; 6% more than in 2015, and an 8% increase in terms of volume, with 64,286 tonnes. Shipments to Saudi Arabia stood at 45,961 tonnes (+13%) worth 48.3 million Euro; a 10% growth. Lastly, exports to Jordan in 2016 totalled 10,355 tonnes (+66%) worth 7.6 million Euro (the same as in the previous year), according to data from the Department of Customs and Special Taxes of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, processed by FEPEX.
The second edition of Mac Fruit Attraction will take place within the framework of FoodAfrica, one of the most important agro-food fairs in Africa, and will also coincide with the organization of Africa Food Manufacturing, devoted to machinery and labelling and packaging solutions, equipment for the treatment and processing of food, as well as logistics and storage. The organizers of Mac Fruit Attraction are FRUIT ATTRACTION (International Fair for the Fruit and Vegetable Sector in Spain) and MACFRUT (Fruit & Veg Professional Show in Italy).
The joint participation, organised by FEPEX, has the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment and the Institute of Foreign Trade, ICEX, and the registration period will be open until 20 March.
