"Of course, you never know what the weather will bring in the coming weeks, but as of now, things seem to be going pretty well. It can get pretty cold in Poland around this time of year, but temperatures have been staying moderate, with average daytime temps between 8 to 10 degrees and night time averages around the freezing point or just above. It's been really manageable, especially for the beginning of March. We're keeping our fingers crossed that we won't get any more really cold temperatures this year, because asparagus remains a delicate crop." shared Andrzej Mierzejewski from Cool Fruit.
For the first time ever, Cool Fruit will start growing around 2 hectares of their green asparagus production this season under foil, which they are hoping will both increase production amounts, along with having higher quality.

"The foil will ensure that production should be around a month earlier than usual, along with having larger volumes of first class, with very little or no class 2 asparagus. If we see good returns on our investment with the foil, we will definitely start growing more hectares of our asparagus like this, around 4 to 5 hectares for next year." said Andrzej.
"I have received information that the quality of the Spanish asparagus has been damaged this season by the heavy rains they have received in the last few months. I am not sure of what the prices will be once we get on the market, but I think that being able to get our asparagus on the market soon will definitely be beneficial."
