Queen Elizabeth II hands out leeks to soldiers for St. David's Day

Queen Elizabeth II handed out little pieces of leek for the hats of soldiers during a ceremony on Friday commemorating St. David’s Day.

The Royal Welsh Regiment received the vegetables at Lucknow Barracks in Tidworth, England.

The leeks are a reference to a long-ago battle in which St. David reportedly told Welsh soldiers to wear leeks to differentiate themselves from their foes.
