Israel: Ministry of Agriculture to subsidise genomic selection

Israel's Ministry of Agriculture has announced the allocation of funds to subsidise research into the breeding of new fruit and vegetable varieties by means of genomic selection.

It is worth noting that, unlike genetic engineering, which is banned in both European and Israeli agriculture, genome selection is perfectly acceptable.

The subsidy will be determined on the basis of submitted applications. Patent rights to the resulting products will be owned by the developers.
