Moldova plans to introduce quality controls for fruit and veg
In the near future, Moldova plans to change the current legislation regulating quality inspections on fresh fruit and vegetables, reported infomarket.md.
It is the result of an initiative by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, and the bill is expected to pass the procedure of public hearings in the near future.
The document proposes to define the authorised body that will conduct quality inspections on fresh fruit and vegetables. The same authority will monitor the control systems. These changes will affect 14 fruit and vegetable products, including tomatoes, bell peppers, grapes, peaches, apples and pears.
The initiative foresees the launch of quality controls for fruit and vegetable production systems, as well as auditing mechanisms. If the regulatory document is approved, the new quality control system will be enforced from 1 January next year.
