Lady Alice apple continues to gain popularity

“We have a great Lady Alice crop this year,” says Aaron DeHerrera with Rainier Fruit. “Production levels showed a nice increase over last season,” he added. Lady Alice is an apple variety that was discovered as a chance seedling in one of Rainier’s orchards in the Yakima Valley. “While her parenting is unknown, we knew from the start that she would become something incredible,” shared DeHerrera. This variety is solely grown by Rainier Fruit in Washington State.

Available until early May
Demand for Lady Alice is brisk as consumers and retailers continue to try new apple varieties. In response to increased consumption, Rainier has increased its acreage. “This enables us to meet our customer’s demand for a longer period of time as we really want to help retailers draw consumers back into their stores for that next purchase,” said DeHerrera. “Apple consumption is growing at a tremendous rate on what we call Rising Star varieties which include Lady Alice, Envy, Jazz, Honeycrisp along with several others.” This season, Lady Alice should be available until early May.

Delicate apple
“Lady Alice is a delicate apple and to protect it as much as possible during transportation, we ship in euro cell pack box with beautiful high graphics to call the apple out,” mentioned DeHerrera. “We also provide POS materials, Pop Up display bins and robust social media efforts to help educate consumers on where they can purchase Lady Alice.” In addition, the apple variety is available in 3lb poly and 2lb or 3lb high graphic pouch bags.
