Romanian fruit and veg growers to be offered additional financial support
Fruit and vegetable producers in Romania will receive temporary financial support, allowing its beneficiaries to recover some of the losses suffered due to the crisis caused by the Russian ban. These excepcional measures, recently approved by the government, will allow fruit and vegetable growers to withdraw their products from the market for free distribution.
The maximum amount of financial support to be given to producer organizations in the fruit and vegetable sector and producers who are not members of these organizations is 5.5 million lei (approximately 1.22 million Euro).
The financial support covers activities carried out since 1 July 2016 and up to 3,000 tonnes. It will be given to producer organizations in the fruit and vegetable sector recognised under the provisions of the relevant European regulations and to individual fruit and vegetable producers who are not members of recognised producer organizations.
The payments will be made by the Agency for Interventions and Payment for Agriculture up until 30 September 2017.
