First Jordanian vegetable shipment arrives in West Bank

Jordan’s first shipment of vegetables directly to Palestine arrived in the West Bank on Monday, according to the Agriculture Ministry.

Agriculture Ministry Spokesperson Nimer Haddadin said the export of fruit and vegetables to Palestine will continue.

The 15-tonne shipment of vegetables that arrived Monday had left the Kingdom through the King Hussein Bridge, Haddadin added, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The shipment contained cucumbers, among other vegetables, Haddadin told The Jordan Times recently, noting that the Kingdom will also start exporting live sheep soon to Palestine.

“The West Bank is a promising and feasible market for our produce of fruit and vegetables… Exporting to the West Bank has faced challenges before, but it is expected to increase from now on,” said Nimer Haddadin, Agriculture Ministry Spokesperson.
