Sri Lanka's vegetable export earnings drop by 4.55%

Sri Lanka’s total export earnings fell 1.68 percent in the first 10 months to $8,675 million compared to the corresponding period in 2015. This fall included exports of vegetables and fruits.

This comes after a round table met to discuss exports and how to increase them. They found that removing domestic NTBs could help boost exports of both vegetables and fruits for Sri Lanka.

Export earnings from vegetables were down 4.55 percent to USD 19.52 million while those from fruits came down 1.86% to USD 30.11 million. In the first 10 months of 2016, total export earnings from cut flower and foliage fell by 2.63% to USD 11.86 million respectively as against the corresponding period in 2015.
