Resumption of Turkish agricultural imports to Russia unlikely before New Year

The Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, Alexander Tkachev, stated that the supply of fruits and vegetables from Turkey to Russia is unlikely to resume before the New Year, since he believes that it will be very difficult for an agreement on the issue to be reached in what remains of 2016.

He also said that the topic was addressed during the recent talks of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev with his Turkish counterpart.

Although back on 11 October the Russian government issued a decree allowing the importation from Turkey of certain fruits, to date, the Rosselkhoznadzor has not issued a permit for the supply of all other types of fruit and vegetables.
