Benin: Polyethylene film increasing yields for producers

By using a new Polyethylene film on their products the Pineapple Producer Village Cooperatives of Benin (FENACOPAB) believes it is yielding more profits and better results in production. The new technology was implemented in an attempt to increase profits for the company by cutting costs.

The costs for one hectare of pineapples produced without polyethylene film costs approximately $2,800 for gross sales amounting to at least $6,400 per hectare. With the new addition of polyethylene they expect $4,800 per hectare to obtain gross sales close to $12,800.
