According to Oversea Supply manager Busara Panphocha, their first target is Germany and Netherlands as plans are at an advanced stage to set up a sister company in one of the two countries where young coconut is in high demand.
“There are so many Asians living in Germany and they love coconut, our young coconut is very sweet so we are sure demand will not be an issue. Germany is also not so strict, foreigners easily get permits to establish businesses there so that is why it is our first target, we also plan to work with supermarket chains to distribute our young coconut,” explains Busara.
Young coconut is available throughout the year in Thailand but the big season comes in October. According to Busara, local price is around €.80/piece and €1/piece FOB. "We try to keep the price stable throughout the season. At the moment, there is a high demand in the local market which is really good for us."
From Busara’s point of view, coconuts from Thailand has an authentic taste which gives them an advantage in the market. The company also plans to sell the fruit in retail and wholesale to meet every customer’s needs.
Overseas supply sources the coconut from other growers as it does not grow its own.
