Dried shiitake price rises

Near the end of the Chinese year, a variety of dried goods seize the Spring Festival market. One of these varieties is the dried shiitake. This market was booming for two years, but was relatively low last year.

This year, the prices of agricultural products have declined. Currently the purchase price of dried shiitake on the market is 26 - 27 Yuan per 0.5 kilo, 10 Yuan less than prices last year. This is a decline of 27.8%. Looking from the market perspective, currently the whole sale of goods slowed down.

Along with the popularization of shiitake factories in the last two years and the developments of mushroom growing technologies, the shiitake supply is growing steady year after year, gradually decreasing profit margins, which affected the prices.

The main reason why the current price is lower compared with last year, is because the profits of shiitake growers was comparatively large two year ago. Growers began to follow the the planting trend, causing the output amount to increase. This led to an ample supply of goods this year. The market demand was not increased significantly, resulting in a market oversupply.
