Taiwanese fruit yam variety produced in Shuangliu

The purple yam, also known as Taiwan Red Dragon, is produced for the first time in Huangshui Wenwu Township, Shuangliu County. New growing technologies were carried out in an area of 27 hectares (400 mu) by using the company - cooperative - farmer method.

Currently, the 27 hectares of purple yam are growing well. The harvesting standard has already been reached and the product will enter the market in November. The predicted wholesale price of purple yam is 6 Yuan per 0.5 kilo. The calculated average yield per 0.07 hectare (1 mu) is 2000 kilo (4000 jin). The output value per 0.07 hectare is approximately 24,000 Yuan.

The predicted total output of the 27 hectares (400) purple yam production area is 10 million Yuan. This will increase the income of Wenwu residents with more than 2000 Yuan per capita.
