Hart ascending to new role as Aldi U.S. CEO
Charles Youngstrom and David Behm will support Hart in continued roles as co-presidents, the retailer said.
Hart has spent his entire career at Aldi, beginning as a management trainee out of college in 1993.
The change in leadership accompanies what Aldi described as the early stages of an accelerated strategic growth plan in the U.S. That plan includes the recently announced deal to acquire 66 Bottom Dollar store locations from Delhaize and a planned expansion to California.
“Rising demand for Aldi is fuelling significant expansion as growing numbers of smart shoppers are discovering that they can save time and money at Aldi without sacrificing quality," the company said in a statement. "Aldi plans to open 650 new stores across the country, including expanding to Southern California, bringing its total number of US stores to nearly 2,000 by the end of 2018.”
