New Price Chopper e-coupons offer more features

With Google pulling the plug on its Zavers e-coupons, Price Chopper on Dec. 1 will have a new vendor to handle the coupons, which can be downloaded to shoppers’ AdvantEdge loyalty cards. And unlike Google, the new system will have a search function so that customers can search by product while they’re shopping.

Google launched the service in January 2013, allowing customers of participating grocery stores to download and link electronic coupons to their loyalty cards. But online tech news site Re/code said the program didn’t grow as quickly as Google had hoped, as some retailers didn’t want to share too much information about their best customers.

At Price Chopper, Inmar will replace Zavers on Dec. 1st, said Heidi Reale, director of shopper and digital marketing for the Schenectady-based supermarket company.

Customers have been advised that existing coupons won’t work after Nov. 30th. However, the old limit of 99 coupons will also disappear at that date.

“Many customers want more than that,” Reale said. “You’ll be able to load as many as want on the (new) portal.”

And, she added, “Customers will be able to search for a specific product.”
